While designing this shawl, I couldn’t help but think of tea time with crumpets, scones, and jam. I was craving them the entire time I knit it! The delicate lace and beautiful colors of the wool can’t help but let my imagination take me to a table laden with fine china, tea, clotted cream, and delicious treats. What I also love about this design is you can have fun with it with colors as well as the size! It is a very easy pattern to adjust to a smaller or larger size by adding or subtracting the 20 row repeat. You don’t have to follow the rules and switch the colors for every section either. Break the rules and add another color or two… have the same color together… make the shawl all one color… whatever you like! Even though it does feel a bit naughty to break the rules during tea time when you are usually quite proper!
Designer Notes:
This is an asymmetrical shawl knit starting at one corner and increasing by 1 st every WS row.
Two colorways were used to knit this pattern and are identified as Color A (Velvet Grapes) and Color B (Wicked).
The first stitch of every row should be slipped purl-wise with the yarn in front.
Instructions have been written out as well as charted for the knitter’s preference.
This design may be knit smaller or larger if desired; in that case more or less yarn may be required. End with Row 20 of Section 3.
